Frequently asked questions
What makes the FOCUS language proficiency assessment system unique?
This system is unique in that professional language proficiency assessment is conducted remotely, and the completed test is analyzed with results provided within 48 hours. The quick process is particularly important for evaluating foreign language skills of job candidates. Additionally, it uses not standardized, identical tests for everyone, but tests tailored to the specific needs of the company's industry.
How is the language proficiency level determined?
The test consists of questions and tasks of varying difficulty. The individual taking the test simply needs to answer the questions, and the results, i.e., the language level, are determined by processing the answers. The answers are evaluated by the system or by a linguist auditor. In the latter case, the test results are accompanied by the specialist’s recommendations and comments. The tests are evaluated according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and allow for the effective determination of all language levels from A1 to C1.
Is the language proficiency assessment test reliable?
Language proficiency assessment tests are an effective and reliable tool for evaluating foreign language knowledge. The reliability of these tests is primarily based on the fact that the answers are evaluated by qualified language audit specialists and linguists. A clear evaluation system is applied when calculating the collected points, ensuring that the language level is determined with great accuracy.
How long does the language proficiency assessment take?
The full language proficiency assessment test consists of 50 grammar questions, 50 vocabulary questions, 5 reading comprehension tasks, 10 speaking tasks, and one writing task. Typically, completing the full test takes about three hours. After receiving the completed test, our specialists begin the evaluation, which is usually done within the same working day. Once the test answers are checked, conclusions are drawn, the foreign language proficiency level is determined, and recommendations are provided. Therefore, if the individual takes the test immediately, the language proficiency assessment usually takes one to two business days.
